Activity-Based Measurement Key to Driving Advertising and …

More than two thirds of respondents surveyed at Ad:Tech New York last week said that effective measurability of an online campaign’s performance relative to its cost was the most important factor driving advertising and marketing dollars online, outstripping demand for detailed customer data and significant customer engagement, respectively. Looking at alternative marketing channels, nearly seven out of 10 respondents (68 percent) believe social networking is in the strongest position to expand and deliver on that promise over the next two years, compared with one quarter who said branded entertainment and experiential marketing will grow the most. Some 62 percent of participants in the survey cited mobile as the platform that will grow the most in the next two years relative to others, with 15 percent each citing online advertising networks and display advertising, respectively, as the areas which will grow fastest. Only eight percent expected search marketing to outpace other areas when it comes to growth. “Mobile marketing platforms and social networks are poised to offer a greater level of user activity measurement and application of the accompanying data to enable contextual advertising around consumers’ points of passion,” said Robert B.

Consumer drug ads down this year, report says

“There isn’t really strong evidence of the effectiveness of DTC,” he said. “I do think it’s being looked at a lot more carefully in an era when pharma is looking at all its expenses carefully. “Gordon said another reason for the cutback in consumer advertising is that drug companies have been feeling the heat from lawsuits and critics claiming their ads overstate benefits and understate risks of some drugs. In addition, the Food and Drug Administration now requires a few drug companies to get preapproval before airing ads. TNS Media found a big slowdown last year and again this year in spending on ads promoting a drug company — not a product — and on disease awareness ads, which tell patients about a condition and drive them to a Web site run by a company selling a related drug. Those two types of ads, though, have generally accounted for only around 10 percent of ad spending, with the rest touting a specific medicine. Last year, spending on established drug products was up 5.

Immediately, an alert is sent via email and
internal messaging. Once the request is accepted, the ad unit is locked into
place and goes live, paying out ad revenue in real time within hours to the
host. “DAAN is an incredible feature for us and we are excited to launch, test
and license this new technology as a complete system for peer-to-peer
advertising,” said Rock Mutchler, CEO. “BETA’s backbone eWallet system
protects both the publisher of the ad unit and the advertiser by making
payments in real time against their available ‘BETA bucks,’ allowing users to
place a cap on their spend — once the money is gone the current ad dissolves
and the next in the queue appears automatically. ”
After local testing is complete on BETARecords. com, DAAN should be
available for 3rd party licensing in early 2009. *(LOGO 72dpi: Send2Press.
